This is my favorite book [Shantaram]. I have many quotations written down from it, but this one seemed to have stuck with me more than the others. This is sometimes difficult for me; that is, it’s challenging to think beyond prior expectations, or to stray away from a nicely packaged understanding of ‘how something or someone works’ (the generalizations/pre-wired expectations that paralyze us from keeping an open mind). I try my best (but am always working on it) to be an objective listener and give the benefit of the doubt before passing judgment.
“I never found a club or clan or idea that was more important than the men and women who believed in it.”
Gregory David Roberts ― Author (Shantaram)
