“We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.”

Randy Pausch (1960-2008) ― Educator

My family has been dealt a lot of garbage in my life: my father has had cancer multiple times, my brother was diagnosed with MS at the age of 22, my uncle passed away in a fluke accident. Yet, I’ve learned that I cannot sit around and place pity on myself for these bad cards that I’ve received. The best way for me to cope is to work harder and rather let these hardships make me into a better person. This quote embodies this idea in me, that no matter what life throws at us, it’s our response that we have control over and that is what matters.
