Unsure exactly who/where this came from initially, but I know I’ve heard many people say a similar version of it in recent years. Essentially, if there’s something you don’t want to do, just do it for five minutes, and if at the end of those five minutes you still don’t want to be doing it, then stop. The trick is, most of the time after five minutes, you’ve gotten over the initial aversion and feel fine to keep going.
