Marjorie wrote about this in her book describing what it is like to be a leader in the military. As a leader, there are times to show your emotions, it allows you to show the people that you lead that you too are vulnerable, compassionate, or just plain human. I have discovered this to be true even as a leader in a civilian environment. With the terrorist attack happening right as I became President, I had no choice but to show my emotions in a public forum. I realize now that allowing myself the compassion to show my emotions when I couldn’t contain them, allowed me to be compassionate with my classmates which in turn allowed me to be the type of friend and leader that I wanted to be.
“Sometimes you should cry.”
