I read Dune for the first time a few years ago and I have always remembered this quote from the book. One of the main characters repeats this to himself in times of extreme duress, and I have found therapeutic value in this when I am overwhelmed, stressed, or fearful for whatever reason. It helps calm me down and helps me remember that fear is nothing more than an emotion, which also helps call me to action.
“Fear is the mind killer; Fear is the little death that brings total destruction; I will face my fear; I will permit it to pass over and through me; When it has gone past, there will be nothing left; Only I will remain.”
