Literally translated, this means, “In it what is in it.” It is a main discourse of Sufism (Islamic mysticism), which teaches you to see God and love in everything in the world. I am not a religious person, but by that I only mean I do not ascribe to any organized religion. I experience God differently than others, but still have an appreciation for the mystery and beauty in the world – the small wonders. Whenever I’m feeling bogged down or overwhelmed with stress, I look around, sometimes to the sky, and whisper this to myself, and it brings me some peace.
“Fihi ma fihi.” (Arabic – “It is what it is.”)
Rumi (1207-1273) ― Poet/Sufi mystic and theologian
