I got this quote from my dad when we were discussing something we’d read in The Wall Street Journal. We were talking about whether the article was a flawed strategy or flawed execution ,and about examples in our own lives and in our careers. I was listening mostly when he said the statement. In almost all my experiences, the same with him, it has been the execution that is the tough part, not the strategy. I’ve had other conversations with professors, consultants, and classmates that have initially started with some lively discussion, but end with the same conclusion my dad came to.
“Strategy is usually the easy part. Execution is what separates the men from the boys.”
