“Mas se caza con miel, que con hiel” (literally, “One hunts better with honey than with ice.”)

It rhymes in Spanish and it means that you get more out of people if you are ‘sweet’ rather than through force or being rude. My mom sounded like a broken record with this quote. Because of my strong personality and my stubbornness, I often found myself arguing with her and she would say: “mas se caza con miel que con hiel.” It stuck with me forever, and I always try to make sure I am polite above everything.
