A Million Miles in a Thousand Years is one of my favorite books. Core to my approach to relationships is the acceptance of others’ flaws. Beauty in friendship, marriage, and other key relationships is not found in the pure harmony of perfectly complimentary personalities (which, to my knowledge, does not actually exist). Rather, the richest relationships occur once individuals know one another intimately and, despite understanding each other’s glaring imperfections, commit to investing in and loving one another.
“When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are.”
